Kennitalan
The marketplace where Icelandic companies, domains and business assets change hands.
In a market of 380,000 people, every business sale still ran through someone's personal network. That is not a small market. That is an unbuilt one.
Overview
Kennitalan is the operating system for SME transactions in Iceland. Owners list a company, a domain or a business asset. Buyers search, subscribe, request access, sign and make an offer. Everything from first contact to signed paperwork happens in one place.
Sellers choose how much help they want. Run the sale themselves on the platform or hand the paperwork to a partner broker and keep the buyer flow coming from Kennitalan. Either way the listing, the access control and the offer trail stay in one system.
The platform runs a real deal book across restaurants, retail, industrial services and contractors. It has a growing base of subscribed buyers looking for exactly those businesses.
The wedge
Why it holds.
Built on Iceland's own rails. Electronic ID signing, the national company registry and the domain registry are wired in, so a listing is verified against the real company, not a form someone filled in.
Access is earned, not open. Sellers approve who sees the private detail and NDAs are signed electronically inside the platform before anything sensitive is revealed.
Broker partnerships instead of broker competition. Brokers get deal flow and keep the paperwork. Kennitalan owns the origination and the buyer relationship.
The model
How it works.
- 01
Buyer subscriptions in tiers, from browsing through to direct contact and mandated search.
- 02
Success fees when a listed business actually changes hands.
- 03
Seller side add ons for exposure and for gated listings.
